Hunting dogs have accompanied us since 1971, when the first black female English cocker spaniel BRITA Z HANSPAULKY from Mrs. Petrovova's kennel came to our family. After her departure to dog heaven, another member of our family became in 1984 a black and white girl of the same breed MIRA Z BLATOVA from the renowned kennel of the family Dana and Josef Smrž. Our greatest love in life, however, has become Labradors, whose breeding and training we have devoted ourselves to since 1991. In the year 2010, our family grew with the first Cairn Terrier female, whose breeding is carried out by our daughter Terezka.
Two cockerspaniel girls - two names Brita - same date of birth and same date of leaving behind the rainbow bridge. Coincidence or fate? BRITA z HANSPAULKY (17.04.1971 - 21.9.1977) She was my childhood dream come true. She was my sibling, who was never born. We were an inseparable couple during all our children´s games She was my bodyguard. An amazing little girl with velvety black fur and an equally velvety personality. She was my everything. She made me sad only once in life - by her too soon departure.
MIRA z BLATOVA (17.04.1984 - 21.09.1992) She also got the name Brita from us. Black and white admirable female with nature of a thoroughbred horse. Our first baby together. A great lover of water and a fantastic babysitter for our children. The sunshine of all our days that we were allowed to spend together.
The BOHEMIA BRAS kennel is exclusively a family breeding of Labrador retrievers, mentally balanced and physically resistant individuals, with a focus on an excellent exterior without genetic defects. We are convinced that the intellect of a Labrador develops the most if it´s allowed constant contact with a person, that is why all our dogs live together with us in the house, and not in kages or in outside kennels. We try to strengthen and further develop their typical character traits and innate work skills by preparing for work exams and their graduation. The reward for our efforts is the fact that our dogs have a cheerful, friendly and balanced nature, and we are pleased that some of them, after passing the relevant tests, have also become indispensable helpers of people as guide, assistance, cannitherapy, rescue and avalanche dogs.

Our family is happy mainly thanks to our four-legged friends:
Our cats
Our cats enter our lives as they please, without us inviting them into it. They make a lot of mischief, provoke our dogs, climb into the apartment wherever they like, eat whatever they want, scratch the furniture, bring live mice into our house, and yet we love them. Our oldest black cat-girl, which we voluntarily bought as one of the few, lived to be a beautiful 18 years old with us.
FILLY TEREZKA and DONKEY MARUSKA
Our litle goats
Our little hedgehogs
Every year, before the arrival of winter, our mischievous labrador girls bring small hedgehogs to our doorstep, and we take them to our "winter apartment", because otherwise they would not have a chance to survive this time of year.
Each of the hedgehogs has its own unique character. They usually get used to humans very quickly and learn to place their spines in such a way that they can be picked up and stroked painlessly. Only once we had a boy whom we named Furious. Strangely, he didn't get used to us during the whole winter. Every time we touched him, on the contrary, he bristled and jumped up on purpose, so that he would definitely prick the hands that were touching him.
The little girl who had light-colored spikes stuck in our memories and hearts the most, so we named her Blondie. She was incredibly cuddly, standing on her hind legs when anyone came into the room, just to get into her arms and cuddle as soon as possible. It is not difficult for us to raise Bodlinka over the winter, the hardest part is always the moment of saying goodbye, when we release them back into the wild in the spring and know that we will never meet them again.
